The Real Deal Tartar Sauce

I don’t know how many bottles of tartar sauce I had to buy to figure out that the tartar sauce is made differently in the US. I really thought that tartar sauce was something like Ketchup: almost universal with very small tweaks. In Colombia, we eat tartar sauce not only with fried fish, but almost everything. I would say that tartar sauce is almost as important as Ketchup and Mustard, so you can imagine how much I missed it when I couldn’t get the my version of “real” Tartar sauce…

Luckily this recipe doesn’t have any weird ingredients and very few steps. I hope you love it!

  • 1/4 Cup of Yellow Onion (Finely Chopped)

  • 2 Tbs of Parsley (Finely Chopped)

  • 1 Medium Carrot (Shredded)

  • 1/3 Cup of Pineapple Jam

  • Juice of 2 Key Limes

  • 1 Cup of Mayo

  • In small cooking pan, add water and the onion. Boil for about 5 minutes.
  • Once the onion is cooked, drain the water using a strainer.
  • In a bowl mix the onions, parsley, carrot, pineapple, key lime juice, and mayo.
